The actor, who stars as the titular character in the soon-to-be-released James Patterson adaptation, is in line to close a deal to return in the sequel Double Cross, Deadline has revealed.
There is no word on whether director Rob Cohen will return for the sequel.
Alex Cross sees Perry's homicide detective hunting down a killer played by Lost's Matthew Fox.
Double Cross sees him retiring from the police force to set up shop as a private psychologist. His break from crime fighting is short-lived, as two felons decide to target him.
Alex Cross will open in US cinemas on October 19 and arrive in the UK on November 30.
