The upcoming 23rd James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig will see a pre-release on November 8, ahead of its nationwide release the following day.
"We think IMAX audiences are in for a special treat - we think the larger aspect ratio takes great advantage of the IMAX format," said Sony Pictures' president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer.
IMAX's Greg Foster added: "Through the use of the expanded aspect ratio, director Sam Mendes's vision is bringing the iconic 007 character to life as never before, providing audiences everywhere an up-close, you-are-there experience that can't be missed."
Skyfall will be the first Bond movie to receive an IMAX release.
The Mendes-directed film will first arrive at UK cinemas on October 26.
Daniel Craig has described the project as being "classically Bond".
