Clive Owen has been cast in comedy King of the Castle.

The actor will join writers Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka on the project, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The pair are making their directorial debut on the film, which centres around a philandering man who is blackmailed by a teenager.

Gatewood and Tanaka are best known as the writers of The Sitter, Adventures in Babysitting and the movie reboot of Baywatch.

Owen was last seen in Shadow Dancer and Killer Elite.

He is yet to be confirmed to be returning for the 2013 comic book movie sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
