The Hugo scribe, who was brought in to re-write the screenplay for the latest 007 picture Skyfall, will be the sole writer on the 24th Bond movie, according to the Daily Mail.
The next instalment is apparently already in "pre-pre-production" with a view to shooting at Pinewood Studios around this time next year for an autumn 2014 release.
Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who wrote the original Skyfall screenplay and have worked on all the Bond scripts since Pierce Brosnan's The World Is Not Enough, have apparently decided to move on.
A source told the paper: "They've had a tremendous run."
Returning Skyfall cast members are expected to enter into negotiations to reprise their roles over the next few months.
Skyfall, starring Daniel Craig, Dame Judi Dench, Javier Bardem and Bérénice Marlohe, releases in UK cinemas tomorrow (October 26), and in the US on November 9.
