Written and directed by playwright Jack Plotnick, the film is set in a 1970s version of the future, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Tyler stars as an assistant captain on a space ship. Wilson, who later this year is set to appear in season two of Girls, plays the unhappy and suicidal captain of the ship.
"People think that the 1970s were about the discos and the free love, but in the suburbs you were left feeling, 'Where's the party?" Plotnick said of the film.
"So the emotional story is what I felt in the '70s. My parents weren't happy together and they stuck it out for the kids. It's an homage to them. And in one way, I think we're like these solitary ships in space trying to connect."
Space Station 76 - which also features Jerry O'Connell (Mockingbird Lane) and Kali Rocha (Meet the Parents, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - is expected to be released during 2013.
