Argo is one of four high-profile new entries in this week's chart. Karl Urban's Dredd opens in fourth place, while French comedy-drama The Intouchables enters the charts in fifth place.
Meanwhile, Tim Burton's new stop-motion animation Frankenweenie opens in seventh place.
