Directed by Nights in Rodanthe helmer George C Wolfe, the film will star Hilary Swank as a woman living with ALS (also known as motor neurone disease or Lou Gehrig's disease).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Duhamel and Emmy Rossum are both set to star, with Rossum taking the role of a self-absorbed college student whose life is transformed when she takes a part-time job as a carer to Swank's character.
Swank will also produce the film alongside The Lucky One co-producers Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan
Duhamel will next be seen in Nicholas Sparks adaptation Safe Haven, opposite Julianne Hough.
