The actress voices Wreck-It-Ralph's Vanellope von Schweetz, a video game character who is bullied by other children for flickering.
In an interview with Reuters, Silverman disclosed that she identifies with being an outcast like Vanellope.
"I relate to everything about her. I know this girl," Silverman insisted.
The comic went on to suggest that Wreck-It-Ralph's message of acceptance will be empowering for children.
"The scrappiness and the feeling of being on the outside, looking in and wanting to play [is hard]," she explained. "What we are most ashamed of - the 'glitch' in each of us - can be our super power, our greatest asset, if we let it."
Silverman's co-star John C Reilly recently praised Wreck-It-Ralph's director and crew for making the animation process as collaborative as possible for the voice actors.
Wreck-It-Ralph is now playing in the US and opens on February 15, 2013 in the UK.
