Ford is said to be "upbeat" about the prospect of the new movie, which was announced last week.
"Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it, all three of them are," a source described only as "highly-placed" claimed to Entertainment Weekly.
Ford was previously quoted as saying that he had no interest in revisiting the role of Han Solo, saying that while the character was key to his future success in the movie industry, he "wouldn't go back there again".
"Some characters are decidedly one-off kind of characters. Some characters don't outlive the movie," he explained.
Ford's co-star Mark Hamill recently revealed that he and Carrie Fisher were told about plans for a Star Wars sequel back in August, before Lucasfilm's sale to Disney was announced.
Star Wars Episode 7 is due in cinemas in 2015, with new movies expected to follow every two or three years after.
