Elijah Wood goes on a killing spree in 'Maniac' red band trailer

Elijah Wood stars in a new red band trailer for Maniac.

The French horror slasher stars Wood as a disturbed young man who has lived with his mother for all of his adult life.



Following her death, he becomes gradually more unstable and eventually becomes a serial killer with a particular penchant for scalping young women.

Nora Arnezeder features as a young artist who develops a relationship with Wood's Frank, while Franck Khalfoun (Wrong Turn at Tahoe) directs.

The trailer features a variety of grisly scenes, including an extended scalping sequence.

Wood recently spoke to Digital Spy about his return as Frodo Baggins in The Hobbit, describing the new trilogy as "a very different kind of story".
