Stan Lee wants bigger cameo in 'Amazing Spider-Man' sequel

Stan Lee is campaigning for a bigger cameo in the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

The property's co-creator made a brief appearance in the Marc Webb reboot, but is hoping his role in the follow-up will "go a little deeper".

Lee told Collider of his first cameo: "It was all right, but it wasn't big enough. You refer to it as a cameo. Couldn't we think of it as a leading role? Or couldn't we think of it as a key scene that the whole movie sort of hinges on?

"People haven't stopped talking about it. But I think in the next one, maybe we ought to go a little deeper and probe the real me, what I have to offer… People are still talking about that cameo and saying, 'Why wasn't that longer?'"

Lee has been making cameos in Marvel Comics movies for more than two decades, with his first being in the 1989 TV movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk.

The Amazing Spider-Man's sequel is scheduled for release on April 18, 2014.
