Russell Brand: 'I want Star Wars Episode 7 role'

Russell Brand has revealed that he would like a role in the new Star Wars movie.

The British comedian joked that he is hoping to star in the recently-announced sci-fi project as a legacy for his future children.

"Why wasn't I invited to play Darth Vader? I could be a Jedi!" he is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"Why have they not invited me to participate? I'd do anything like that - to be a Jedi for the children. As yet unborn."

Disney is planning to release Star Wars Episode 7 in 2015 after buying Lucasfilm from creator George Lucas for $4.05 billion.

Carrie Fisher has expressed interest in reprising her role of Princess Leia in the project.

Harrison Ford has also been quoted as saying he is open to reprising his role as Han Solo in Episode 7, while Matthew Vaughn is thought to be in the running to direct the movie.

Russell Brand has also shared his insights on Honey Boo Boo and The Twilight Saga while talking to Ellen DeGeneres.
