"I did pass on... Girl, Interrupted. The Angelina Jolie role. And she won the Academy Award! Isn't that funny?" the actress joked.

She went on to explain: "I just didn't care enough about it. I don't know. There was something about it. They probably wanted me to audition and I didn't feel like doing it, or maybe they wanted me to jump through hoops and I didn't feel like doing it.

"Honestly, I just didn't care about it enough to be grounded in it."

Posey has earned critical acclaim for many of her big-screen roles in films like Best in Show, Kicking and Screaming and The Anniversary Party.

She also famously played Lex Luthor's assistant Kitty Kowalski in director Bryan Singer's Superman Returns.

The star most recently appeared on television in a guest role in New Girl.
