Sylvester Stallone has joined the cast of indie drama Reach Me.

The Expendables star will re-team with his Cobra co-star John Herzfeld on the project, Variety understands.

Reach Me, written and directed by Herzfeld, follows a group of people brought together by a self-help book written by a reclusive ex-football coach.

Stallone has already filmed his scenes, and will appear in the final cut alongside Nelly, Omari Hardwick, Elizabeth Henstridge, Danny Aiello and Rebekah Chaney.

The actor will next appear in Bullet to the Head and The Tomb, and is about to begin shooting boxing comedy Grudge Match. He is also plotting a third entry in the Expendables series.

A release date for Reach Me is yet to be confirmed.
