Actors Brady Corbet (Melancholia), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures) have been named in connection to the role in the Sony Pictures follow-up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The filmmakers are said to be reviewing the part, which originally called for a well-built, athletic character, instead opting for a more "dark and edgy" actor.
Osborn's role is traditionally that of both Peter Parker's best friend and the son of his arch enemy, Norman Osborn (aka The Green Goblin). He was portrayed by James Franco in Sam Raimi's trilogy.
Shailene Woodley was recently confirmed to be joining the Marvel Comics-based sequel as Mary Jane Watson alongside returning stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 2, 2014.
