Exclusive: Tom Hiddleston talks 'Thor: The Dark World' plot, Loki character

By and Amie Parker-Williams
Tom Hiddleston has discussed reprising the role of Loki in Thor: The Dark World.

Alan Taylor's sequel will be set soon after the end of The Avengers, which saw Loki's plot to enslave the Earth foiled by the assembled Avengers.

Hiddleston spoke to Digital Spy about the "springboard" for the sequel, which centres on the response in Asgard to the events of The Avengers.

"Everybody upstairs in space is going to have an opinion on what happened over the course of Avengers," he said. "Thor and Loki were gone from Asgard for a time, and to all intents and purposes hell broke loose and they were both responsible, although obviously Loki was primarily responsible!"
He went on to discuss his relationship with Taylor, and their shared love for Loki's unpredictable nature.

"Within one moment, within one scene, within one hour, within one day, Loki can do these huge 180 degree turns, where he can be enjoying himself, and completely in control, and then the next moment he's completely lost control, and the truth of his broken heart is plain for all to see.

"And that's the fun in playing him, is that there's always more than one thing going on. He's always playing some kind of game with the people he's interacting with."

The first synopsis for the sequel was recently released by Disney.

Thor: The Dark World will be released on November 8, 2013.
