James Bond movie 'Skyfall' soars to top of Australian box office

By
New James Bond movie Skyfall has topped the Australian box office chart in its first week of release.

Daniel Craig's latest outing as 007 took over AU$12.3 million across 580 screens, bumping last week's top-ranked film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 down one place.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which stars Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller, debuts in fifth place and is the only other new entry in this week's top ten.

Skyfall's global takings are now approaching the $800 million mark, with latest figures quoting the movie's global receipts at $789.5 million.
