He is keen to fit the Nintendo mascot into the sequel to the recent Disney film, which he is sure will receive a follow-up.
Moore told Moviehole that the character was missing from the first movie not because Nintendo refused the filmmakers permission to use him, but because a suitable role didn't emerge for the plumber.
"We'll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film]," said Moore. "To be able to present him in the sequel would be great."
The first Wreck-It Ralph film features cameos from computer game icons including Sonic the Hedgehog, Streetfighter's Ryu, Ken and M Bison, Pac-Man, Q*bert, Paperboy, Frogger and Mario's archenemy Bowser.
The film centres around the titular video game villain, who decides he wants to be a hero.
