The actress makes her return to the big screen in the movie, playing an overbearing mother who goes with her son (Seth Rogen) on a cross-country business trip.
Streisand spoke about her hesitations about The Guilt Trip while attending its premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday (December 12).
"I did, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it," she told Access Hollywood.
"I said things like, 'I really don't want to go cross country. I like sleeping in my bed. So, can you do sort of in the Valley?' And, 'I don't like to get up that early, I'm a night hawk, so can you shoot after 8:30 not... early in the morning?' And so forth. And they sort of accommodated me so I had to do it."
Streisand revealed that it was her son Jason Gould who ultimately convinced her that The Guilt Trip was a worthwhile project.
"He thought I should do it. He liked it. It's a mother and son thing," she said.
The Guilt Trip - which also stars Adam Scott, Colin Hanks and Ari Graynor - opens on December 19 in the US and February 22 in the UK.
