'Amazing Spider-Man 2': Electro costume to be "not as comic book-y"

By
Jamie Foxx has said that the costume for Electro will be "more grounded" in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

Foxx was confirmed to be playing the part of the supervillain earlier this month, after fuelling speculation by tweeting that he had worn the famous green-and yellow outfit for Halloween this year.

However, it may be the last chance that the Django Unchained star gets to wear the classic outfit, as he claims the costume will be revamped for the new film.

Foxx told Black Film: "It won't be green and yellow. It will be a different colour. [The producers] want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won't be green and yellow.

"They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down and trying to figure out what happened. How did he become this way? So, it will be some new stuff."

Fans have speculated that the costume may be more influenced by the version of Electro featured in the Ultimate universe, which also eschews the green and yellow for a more muted design.

New faces confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 include Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson.

Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, recently gave her blessing to Woodley.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released on May 2, 2014.
