Company head Eric Fellner has said that they are considering the sequel, but will not go ahead with it unless they can get it right.
"We're always looking at it," he told ComingSoon.net.
"We'll only do it if we can crack it creatively, so maybe we will, maybe we won't. We'll see what happens. If we can get it right next year, we'll try and do it next year, but if we can't, we won't."
The film - which has been tentatively titled Bridget Jones's Baby - apparently stalled when star Hugh Grant was dissatisfied with the script.
Co-stars Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth has also been connected to the potential sequel.
The previous film, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, was released in 2004.
