Guillermo del Toro introduces the short film which inspired his upcoming horror movie Mama.
In the video below, Mama producer del Toro introduces the original film that led him to make his own full-length feature.
Del Toro explains that the 2008 short by Andreas and Barbara Muschietti led him to create the feature film version.
Mama was co-written by the Muschiettis and Luther creator Neil Cross. The film finds Annabel (Jessica Chastain) and Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) faced with the challenge of raising his two young nieces, who come into their care after his brother dies.
Victoria (Megan Charptentier) and Lily (Isabelle Nelisse) had been living in the woods alone after their parents' death. However, it turns out they weren't totally alone, and the film sees something very strange begin to happen in Annabel and Lucas's house.
Mama is due to be released on January 18, 2013 in the US and on February 22, 2013 in the UK. Watch the official movie trailer below:
