Steven Spielberg's 'Lincoln' dominates BAFTA nominations

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln has dominated the nominations for the 2013 EE BAFTAs.

The historical drama secured nods for 'Best Film', 'Best Actor' for Daniel Day-Lewis and 'Best Supporting Actress' for Sally Field at the annual British film awards, and is nominated in a total of 10 categories.

Les Misérables and Life of Pi are each nominated in nine categories, while Skyfall has eight nominations and Argo seven.

The 23rd James Bond movie is recognised in the 'Outstanding British Film' category alongside Anna Karenina, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Les Misérables and Seven Psychopaths.

Casino Royale secured nine nominations - winning one for 'Best Sound' - at the 2007 BAFTAs, but this time out there is no 'Best Actor' nomination for Daniel Craig.

Judi Dench and Javier Bardem both bagged supporting actor nominations.

The 'Best Actor' BAFTA nominees are Ben Affleck (Argo), Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook), Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln), Hugh Jackman (Les Misérables ) and Joaquin Phoenix (The Master).

Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook), Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone), Helen Mirren (Hitchcock) and Emmanuel Riva (Amour) are all up for 'Best Actress'.

Lincoln director Steven Spielberg and Skyfall's Sam Mendes are a notable omission in the 'Director' nominations, comprising of Michael Haneke (Amour), Ben Affleck (Argo), Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained), Ang Lee (Life of Pi) and Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty).

The BAFTAs, hosted by Stephen Fry, will take place on Sunday, February 10 at London's Royal Opera House and be broadcast on BBC One.
