Staunton not flattered by 'Potter' role

Imelda Staunton has admitted she wasn't overly pleased at first to be considered for the role of Dolores Umbridge for the latest Harry Potter movie.

The actress was approached by the film's producers regarding the role, which she ended up accepting, but the original suggestion did not strike her as a compliment: "I read the book, and Umbridge is described as a short, ugly, toadlike woman," she laughed. "I thought, 'Oh, thanks very much.' "

She added that the role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been a lot more challenging than people give it credit for: "You may think that it's just a bunch of hand-waving, but there's a lot of proper acting going on."

The fifth Harry Potter film is due for release on July 13 of this year.
