Lockerbie movie in production

A Hollywood movie is on its way telling the story of the bombing of an aeroplane over Lockerbie.

Pan Am flight 103 exploded over the Scottish Borders town in 1988 - killing all 259 people on board and 11 more where it fell. In 2001 Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, a Libyan, was convicted of all their murders.

Now the tragedy will be recalled by Kiwi director Niki Caro, whose previous work included Whale Rider. He has started a script based on The Boy Who Fell Out of the Sky.

The book was published by Ken Dornstein - brother of Lockerbie victim David - last year.

Caro said the film would be set in the present and use flashbacks to tell the story. He added: "The film looks at the emotional consequences of terrorism, but not in a political way."
