Brendan Fraser to star in 'The Mummy 3'

Brendan Fraser has signed to appear in a third The Mummy film.
The 38-year-old actor will reprise his role as Rick O'Connell, an American serving in the French Foreign Legion. However, Rachel Weisz, who starred in 1999's The Mummy and 2001's The Mummy Returns, has declined to appear in the latest sequel.
Rob Cohen, who helmed The Fast and the Furious, has been lined up to direct the movie, whose script is currently being rewritten to account for the loss of Weisz's character.
The Mummy 3 is expected to be released in summer 2008.
