'Avatar' writer to work on script for new 'Terminator' film

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier have been hired to pen a script for the next Terminator film.

The writers will work on the first instalment in the sci-fi franchise since 2009's Terminator Salvation, reports Deadline.

Kalogridis worked on the script for Avatar with director James Cameron. She has also produced Shutter Island and scripted Alexander for Oliver Stone.

Lussier, the man behind Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine and White Noise: The Light, directed Dracula 2000, on which Kalogridis has a 'Special Thanks' credit.

The Terminator (1984)


Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison paid for the rights to the Terminator property a few years ago, and has since teamed up with brother David's Skydance Pictures.

Ellison is a backer of Zero Dark Thirty and The Master, while her sibling has ties to motion pictures including Jack Reacher and the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness.
