Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson are in line to return to their roles from the television show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series which told the tale of Brooklyn-based writer and amateur detective Jonathan (Schwartzman) and his friends Ray (Galifianakis) and George (Danson) concluded in 2011 on a cliffhanger.
A feature-length follow-up has been rumoured ever since.
"Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love in a Bored to Death feature-length slapstick adventure," reads the film's logline.
Bored to Death creator Jonathan Ames - the namesake of the starring character - is writing the script and will reunite with the show's Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis to executive produce.
