Sundance: Matthew Porterfield new drama 'I Used to Be Darker' snapped up

Monterey Media has purchased rising director Matthew Porterfield's I Used to Be Darker.

The distribution company acquired the drama following the movie's debut at the Sundance Film Festival.

I Used To Be Darker was written by Putty Hill director Porterfield and newcomer Amy Belk.

The film chronicles an Irish runaway by the name of Taryn (Deragh Campbell) who leaves life in Ocean City behind, only to escape to a difficult world in Baltimore with her troubled aunt, uncle and cousin.

Actors Hannah Gross (Lydia Hoffman Lydia Hoffman), Kim Taylor, Ned Oldham, Geoff Grace and Nick Petr also star.

It will also be screened at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

A release date for I Used To Be Darker has yet to be set.
