"Is there any kind of new Indian dude/mutant I can play in X-Men: Days of Future Past?" the comedian and actor wrote on Twitter.

"In the words of Spock: I shall consider it," responded Singer.

The most prominent male Indian character to feature in the X-Men comics was Neal Shaara - aka Thunderbird - who was briefly a member of the team from 2000.

Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore are the latest actors to have been confirmed to be reprising their roles in the upcoming 20 Century Fox film, which centres around the classic time-travel tale.

Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence have also been billed to star in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is scheduled for release on July 18, 2014.
