Bryan Singer consults James Cameron for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

By
Bryan Singer has revealed that he has spoken to James Cameron regarding the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The sequel to 2010's X-Men: First Class will unite the cast of the original trilogy and the successful prequel, with Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy all confirmed to appear.

The Superman Returns director is also making his return to the franchise, and in a recent interview with Empire told of how a discussion with the Terminator and Avatar creator had helped him wrap his head around the multiple timelines in the new film.

He said: "We've cracked it in a way that it makes sense. I had a two-hour conversation with James Cameron about time travel, string theory, multiverses and all that. You have to create your rules and stick with them.

"That's why Terminator and Back to the Future work so well. And there are certain mechanisms in X-Men, certain powers, perceptions and characters, that make this possible."

Singer also reassured fans that he will be taking care not to upset the continuity of both franchises, saying: "I'm taking into account every movie - I'm not just grabbing my first two movies and First Class and smashing them together.

"I'm taking into account the entire universe as it's been laid out so far on the screen, and really respecting it and trying to work with that."

The 47-year-old also said that he would continue to announce casting news on Twitter, describing the social networking site as an "amazing thing".

Earlier today, he told Aziz Ansari that he would "consider" him for a role in the new film after the comedian petitioned for a part on Twitter.
