New figures released by the UK Film Council show the latest Bond outing is the most commercially successful 007 movie ever and, taking £55 million, is the sixth most popular film of all time in the UK.
The second Pirates movie, meanwhile, took £52 million putting it eighth in the chart.
Their success comes as revenues in the UK overall in 2006 were one per cent down on 2005. The council blamed the World Cup and record-high temperatures.
