Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen in talks for 'Godzilla' remake

Bryan Cranston is in talks to star in Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures' new take on Godzilla.

The award-winning Breaking Bad star could be joined by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, according to Variety.

However, insiders have stressed that no cast deals will be concluded until former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont presents his revision of the script.

Gareth Edwards will direct Godzilla, and has promised that he will offer a "grounded, realistic approach" in his new movie.

Godzilla will be released on May 16, 2014 in direct competition with Michael Bay's movie reboot of the Ninja Turtles comic book franchise.

It was reported last month that Legendary has filed suit to remove a number of producers from the film, following a clash over compensation and alleged threats to halt production by taking out a temporary restraining order.
