Christopher Walken: 'I'm not as weird as my movie characters'

By
Christopher Walken has stressed that he is nothing like the bizarre characters that he often plays in films.

The Oscar-winning actor is perhaps best known for playing oddball characters in movies such as The Deer Hunter, Annie Hall, A View to a Kill, At Close Range and Seven Psychopaths.

Walken reflected on his career with Parade, revealing that he is much more normal than his acting roles would suggest.

"I've played a lot of strange, troubled, and sometimes destructive people, but before I got into the movies, I was a singer-dancer and did musical comedy," Walken explained.

"People get mixed up with the parts I play, but I'm really a very conservative guy. I've been married for almost 50 years and I lead a quiet life."
