Google welcomes new Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson comedy 'The Internship'

By
Google has allowed Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson's upcoming comedy The Internship to film at its Mountain View headquarters in California.

The Shawn Levy-directed movie, which marks Vaughn and Wilson's first collaboration since 2005 hit Wedding Crashers, centres on two 40-something salesmen who are laid off and hatch a plan to land highly-coveted internships at Google.

The partnership between the tech giant and the 20th Century Fox film will see the production shoot external scenes at Mountain View and use Georgia Tech in Atlanta to recreate the Google offices.

"We're excited that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson chose the Google campus as a backdrop for their first film together since Wedding Crashers," Google said of the movie.

"We're sure they'll have a humorous take on life in Silicon Valley and look forward to seeing the result."

Vaughn, in an interview with Bloomberg, said: "Being from the midwest, Google always felt like The Wizard of Oz or the Chocolate Factory, such a different type of place to work at than what is considered a traditional work environment."

Director Levy admitted that "trying to get the culture of Google right" has played a big part in his thinking on the comedy. The Real Steel director also hinted that Google's Project Glass headset and their driverless car could also feature in the film.

The Internship will open in the US on June 7 and July 4 in the UK.
