Tom Cruise's upcoming sci-fi movie Oblivion has premiered its new trailer online.
The film sees Cruise take on the role of Jack Harper, a drone repairman stationed on Earth to extract resources in the aftermath of a huge war. When Jack encounters a beautiful stranger (Olga Kurylenko) who falls from the sky, it triggers a chain of events that force him to question everything he knows.
Oblivion began life as a graphic novel from Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinsk. The filmmaker adapted the story for the screen with screenwriters Karl Gajdusek and Michael Arndt.
Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo also star in Oblivion, while French electro outfit M83 are providing the score.
Riseborough recently spoke to Digital Spy about the blockbuster, calling it "a really beautiful story".
"I hadn't read a script for a very long time that had the elements of being, firstly, a really dramatic story, a really beautiful story, full of emotion and pain and sacrifice," she said. "And then having an incredible visual aspect that really only a few directors can create."
Oblivion is due to open exclusively in IMAX cinemas on April 12, 2013 and will then receive a wide release on April 19, 2013.
