Julia Stiles is to produce and star in a new adaptation of Sylvia Plath novel The Bell Jar.
According to CNN, it took two years for Stiles to get the rights to the autobiographical novel, which has only been filmed once before, finally managing to close the deal last Friday.
The Bell Jar tells the story of book editor Esther Greenwood (played by Stiles), who falls victim to mental illness after becoming concerned by the societal behaviours she sees around her.
Stiles previously wrote and directed the short film Raving.
