Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Andy Garcia, Rachel Crow join 'Rio 2'

The voice cast for the follow-up to Twentieth Century Fox's Rio has been revealed.

Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am and Jamie Foxx are among the stars reprising their roles for the animated sequel.

Meanhwhile, Andy Garcia, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth, Rita Moreno, Amandla Stenberg, Rachel Crow, Pierce Gagnon and Natalie Morales will join the Carlos Saldanha production.

Producers John C. Donkin and Bruce Anderson have also signed up to for the film, along with composer John Powell and Brazilian musical icon and Rio executive producer Sergio Mendes.

The plot of the sequel - currently known simply as Rio 2 - is understood to focus on macaws Blu (Eisenberg) and Jewel (Hathaway) living a domesticated life with three chicks in the Brazilian city.

However, their comfortable life is short-lived, as Jewel decides that their children need to learn to live like real birds and proposes that the family relocate to the Amazon rainforest. As Blu tries to adapt to his new surroundings, he begins to worry he may lose his family to the wild for good.

The soundtrack to Rio 2 is set to feature new Brazilian artists and original music by Janelle Monáe and The Wondaland Arts Society, and Monáe also has a voice role in the film.

The film is due to be released on March 28, 2014 in Brazil, with a UK release following on April 4, 2014. The film will then be released in the US and worldwide on April 11, 2014.
