The Celebrity Apprentice star panned the slavery-themed movie after Sunday's Oscars, tweeting: "Django Unchained is the most racist movie I have ever seen, it sucked!"
Trump has since appeared on Access Hollywood Live to explain his reaction to the film.
"I thought it was totally racist. I thought it wasn't a good movie," Trump insisted. "I've never seen so many people get hit by a bullet and explode. It was like they got hit by bombs."
Trump went on to stress that he has nothing against Tarantino, whose films he apparently has enjoyed in the past.
"Pulp Fiction, to me, is one of the greatest movies ever. I like him, I just didn't particularly like this movie."
Do the Right Thing director Spike Lee also criticised Taranntino last year by saying that Django Unchained trivialised the struggles of African-Americans.
Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx later called Lee's comments about the controversial film "irresponsible".
