Two Scottish towns named Springfield have said they are keen to hold the UK premiere of The Simpsons Movie.
In the USA, 20th Century Fox has asked 16 cities with the name, home of the famous cartoon family, to put their case for hosting the film's July debut.
Council officials in Fife, the region which plays host to one of Scotland's Springfields - a town of less than 1,000 people, said they would be delighted to take the role in the UK.
Linda Thomson, event co-ordinator for the county, told BBC News Online: "We think the most obvious location to host the UK premiere of the new Simpsons film is Springfield, Cupar, Fife.
"Of course, neither Springfield nor Cupar actually have a cinema, but this would just give us the opportunity to create an American drive-in experience, in either the beautiful Haugh Park or Duffud Park, using our new top of the range outdoor projector."
Meanwhile, the border county of Dumfries and Galloway also believes it should be in with a chance. "It all sounds very interesting," said film commissioner Mark Geddes. "I don't know how many UK locations are called Springfield but I wouldn't imagine there are many. It would be daft to miss out."
Fox currently has no plans to hold a competition for the UK premiere of the movie.
