In an unusual viral marketing move, the poster for JJ Abrams's sci-fi sequel was unveiled via a hidden message in the newly-released international trailer.
A web link appeared on-screen during a shot of Alice Eve's Carol Marcus – as originally spotted by TrekMovie – which when entered into a browser reveals the brand-new poster.
Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) are highlighted in the poster above an image of Benedict Cumberbatch as mysterious villain John Harrison, which mirrors the film's first poster.
Two new images were released yesterday from the film, which will see Kirk and the Enterprise crew facing "an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organisation" in Harrison.
Star Trek Into Darkness will be released on May 9 in the UK, and May 17 in the US.
