Lynne Ramsay left Jane Got A Gun after falling out with Natalie Portman?

By
Lynne Ramsay's abrupt exit from Jane Got A Gun has been explained by more than one source.

While Ramsay and her representatives are yet to comment on the events of last week, when Ramsay reportedly failed to show up for the first day of filming on the indie Western, several sources have now come forward with explanations for her decision.

According to The Observer, Ramsay "believed she had no choice but to withdraw from the film after a series of compromises over cast and locations reached critical mass, including a falling out with the film's star and co-producer Natalie Portman".

It is also claimed that Ramsay realised that she would not be allowed final cut on the film, despite having been promised this initially, a story which is backed up by sources quoted in The Hollywood Reporter.

According to one of their sources, Ramsay had still not received a finalised script, schedule or budget days before shooting was due to begin, while a conflicting story states that it was Ramsay's "increasingly bizarre behaviour" and failure to deliver her own revised script that had delayed production.

Warrior director Gavin O'Connor has been brought in to replace Ramsay, but hours after his appointment Jude Law stepped down from the project, leaving the role of the film's villain unfilled.

Jane Got A Gun stars Portman as a woman who is forced to turn to an ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) for help after her outlaw husband (the role that would have been Law's) is targeted by a murderous gang.
