'Star Wars Episode 7's Mark Hamill: 'I'm cautious about return'

By
Mark Hamill has discussed his trepidation about returning to Star Wars.

The actor, who has signed on to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in JJ Abrams's Episode VII, explained that he wants to keep fans' memories of the original series sacred.

"Part of me is cautious," Hamill told Collider. "Saying 'let well enough alone, let everyone keep their nice memories if they have nice memories and don't try to go back and do it again'.

"But the other side of me, the adventurous side, thinks, 'If everyone's in, how could I miss this?'"

He went on to praise screenwriter Michael Arndt, expressing faith in his ability to write a script that "doesn't make everyone want to find us, cut off our heads and throw it right in our faces".

Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are also signed on to return as Han Solo and Leia respectively, and Fisher recently said she has hired a personal trainer to get her in shape for the new film.
