'Gremlins' remake "moving ahead", Seth Grahame-Smith to produce?

By
A reboot of 1984 movie Gremlins has apparently been confirmed.

Rumours that Warner Bros was looking to remake Steven Spielberg's black comedy first emerged in January, and now Bloody Disgusting reports that the studio is "moving ahead" with the production.

Dark Shadows writer Seth Grahame-Smith will reportedly produce the movie alongside David Katzenberg, son of DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.

It is not yet clear who will direct the picture.

Plans for the reboot are said to have been in place for a while, but were held up while Warner Bros negotiated the rights to the property with Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment.

The original film - starring Zach Galligan as a young man who acquires strange pet Mogwai - was directed by Joe Dante and spawned a 1990 sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
