"Reboot is a strong word," he wrote on Twitter. "This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park."

Rumours had suggested that the film could be set years after the first Jurassic Park, when the theme park is finally opened to the public.

Jurassic World has cast The Help's Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson of Melissa and Joey and Insidious's Ty Simpkins.

Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt is rumoured to be the favourite for the movie's lead role.

Jurassic World will arrive in the US on July 12, 2015. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
