Fox hires Simon Kinberg to build a shared Marvel cinematic universe

By
20th Century Fox has hired Simon Kinberg to help develop a shared cinematic universe for its Marvel properties.

The writer/director will attempt to integrate the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties through his Genre Films banner as part of a three-year, first-look deal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I have a lot of ideas on how to build those brands and do what everybody is thinking of these days: Be like Marvel," said Kinberg. "I want to be able to build stories over multiple movies."

Fox's next Marvel film will be X-Men: Days of Future Past, with an X-Men: Apocalypse sequel announced earlier this week by director Bryan Singer.

Mark Millar was previously hired to perform a similar role for Fox. It is unclear where the Kinberg deal leaves that earlier partnership.
