Summit Entertainment is searching for a new director to continue the hotly-anticipated young adult adaptation into its later instalments, reports Variety.
Divergent will arrive early next year, followed by Insurgent on March 20, 2015.
Based on Veronica Roth's young adult novel, Divergent centres around a young woman who does not fit into the rigid structure of a society which forces adolescents into categories in which they will remain for the rest of their lives.
Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Jai Courtney, Miles Teller and Zoë Kravitz feature in the first movie.
A similar situation occurred with the Hunger Games franchise, with Gary Ross exiting after the first movie to be replaced by Francis Lawrence for 2013's Catching Fire.
