A four-time Oscar nominee and honorary winner in 1939 and 1983, Rooney shot to fame as a teenager playing Andy Hardy in MGM's film series. So successful was Rooney as a child star, he became the biggest box office draw in America from 1939-1941.
In a career that spanned 10 decades, Rooney worked with Hollywood icons such as Judy Garland and Elizabeth Taylor. In recent years he cameoed in The Muppets and Night at the Museum. His final film role will be reprising his role as security guard Gus in Night at the Museum 3.
