Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers will meet, says James Gunn

James Gunn's last movie Super was produced on a budget of just $2.5 million - you can add a couple of zeroes to that figure and you'll be close to the cost of Guardians of the Galaxy, a Marvel blockbuster that takes the brand's expanding cinematic universe into the far reaches of space.

Digital Spy spoke to Gunn about injecting risqué gags into a family-friendly film, having ideas for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and why the Guardians and the Avengers may need to team up to take down Thanos.

The tenth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Guardians of the Galaxy features an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as assassin Gamora, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon and WWE star Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.

Guardians of the Galaxy will open in UK cinemas on July 31 and August 1 in the US.
