Oscar-winning script writer Brian Helgeland has signed up to work on new Robin Hood film Nottingham.

The movie is due to reunite Russell Crowe, as the Sheriff of Nottingham, and director Sir Ridley Scott. The pair have previously worked together on Gladiator and A Good Year.

Now Helgeland, who won an Academy Award in 1997 for LA Confidential, is on board, although no-one has yet been cast as the flawed hero.

Universal Pictures is making the film which is due to begin shooting before the end of this year.
